Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement between the USA and the EU on cooperation in the regulation of civil aviation safety. The purpose of the agreement is to: enable the reciprocal acceptance of findings of compliance and approvals; promote a high degree of safety in air transport, and ensure regulatory cooperation and harmonisation between the United States and the EU as regards airworthiness approvals and monitoring of civil aeronautical products, environmental testing and approvals of such products, and approvals and monitoring of maintenance facilities.

The MAG is the general term for the document whose official title is “Maintenance Annex Guidance Between the Federal Aviation Administration for the United States of America and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for the European Union.” It is a separate document from the Agreement and explains how to implement the Agreement and its Annex 2.
